Blue cheese and feta cheese are two of the less common cheeses eaten, but also amongst the most useful for use in recipes and both are incredibly flavorsome. Feta cheese recipes are not only delicious but healthy and blue cheese recipes utilize the full flavor of this strong cheese.

Feta Cheese Origins.

Feta is a soft, crumbly cheese usually made from sheeps milk and produced exclusively in Greece. It is a skinless cheese with a creamy texture and flavor, which is partly why feta cheese recipes are so popular worldwide.

Feta Cheese Recipes.

Creamy Caesar Feta Cheese Salad

Enjoy this creamy Caesar salad topped with delicious feta cheese and croutons that’s quick to make and ideal for a light lunch.

Ingredients (serves 4):

1/3 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 garlic clove

2 tablespoons milk

4 muffins

1 teaspoon salt

Olive oil cooking spray

½ teaspoon garlic powder

6 cups torn mixed salad greens

12 cherry tomatoes, halved

1 large green bell pepper, chopped

4 oz. feta cheese

Method :


In a bowl, mix all dressing ingredients except milk; beat with a whisk until smooth. Stir in the milk.


Heat oven to 400°F. Spray muffin halves with olive oil cooking spray. Sprinkle with garlic powder and salt. Cut into 1/2-inch pieces; place on a baking sheet. Bake at 400°F. for 8 to 10 minutes or until crisp.


In a large salad bowl, combine all of the salad ingredients. Add the dressing and toss until well coated. Arrange salad on 4 plates and top with the crispy croutons.

Traditional Feta Cheese in Vine Leaves

This feta recipe uses grapevine leaves which are used traditionally in classic greek feta cheese recipes such as meze. Softened in boiling water and then the cheese is enhanced with sweet-smelling ingredients and cooked in the oven. The leaves hold the flavors inside and come to be slightly crunchy, giving the finished dish a pleasant smoothness.

Ingredients :

6 – 8 Grapevine leaves

7 ounces of Greek feta cheese

Lemon zest

Olive oil

1 clove of garlic

Chili flakes

4 sprigs of oregano

Method :


Boil the vine leaves in boiling water for around 20 seconds.  Then place in cold water. Dry the vine leaves and arrange on a chopping board or work surface by overlapping so as to form a pocket to hold the feta cheese.


Locate the lump of feta cheese right in the centre of the vineleaves and add grated garlic and lemon zest. Sprinkle chilli flakes and add a dash of olive oil.


Fold the feta cheese into a parcel one leaf at a time until it is fully covered.


Place on a non-stick baking tray and bake in oven at 320°f for 15 minutes.  Allow to cool for 10 minutes prior to serving.

Tip : Serve with a tomato and onion salad. For added authenticity add a bowl of black olives.

Greek Lamb Burgers With Feta

These lamb burgers are crammed full of flavor from fragrant herbs, feta cheese, tomato sauce, and a balsamic glaze. Simple to make, they’re a brilliant and healthy alternative to normal beef burgers. The addition of pitta bread instead of a burger bun makes for a tasty twist, and makes this one of our favourite feta cheese recipes.

Ingredients (serves 8)

48 ounces Ground Lamb

2 minced shallots

2 minced garlic cloves

4 tablespoons of chopped mint

4 tablespoons of chopped flat-leaf parsley

2 teaspoons of chopped oregano

2 teaspoons of paprika

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

8 Pitta breads

Olive oil

Balsamic vinegar glaze

Feta cheese

Tomato Relish

2 thinly sliced red onions

Method :


In a large mixing bowl, add the ground lamb, shallot, garlic, mint, parsley, oregano, and paprika. Lightly blend until combined. Form the mixture into eight 6 ounce patties. Season both sides of the patties with freshly ground salt and pepper.


Lightly oil the barbecue grill or electric griddle and grill the patties for about 5 minutes on each side. Remove the patties and place on a warm plate or chopping board and let them rest for a further 5 minutes.


While the ground lamb patties are resting, gently brush the pitta breads with olive oil and grill until they start to puff and become somewhat crispy. Grate the feta with a cheese grater.


Cut a pocket into the pitta with a sharp knife and place the lamb patties into each pitta bread and dress with balsamic glaze, grated feta cheese, tomato relish, and sliced red onion. Plate up and serve immediately.

Traditional Moussaka with Feta Cheese

Try our delicious moussaka with feta cheese recipes for an appetizing supper or informal dinner.

Ingredients (serves 6) :

1½ pounds eggplants1 tablespoon olive oil

1 cup of finely chopped onion

2 teaspoons minced garlic

1 ½ pounds of ground lamb

Salt and freshly ground pepper

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ cup of of red wine

½ cup beef broth

2 tablespoons of tomato puree

1 ¼ cups of diced tomatoes

1 tablespoon of butter

2 tablespoons of flour

1 cup of fresh milk

1 egg yolk

5 tablespoons of olive oil

½ pound of greek feta cheese


Method :


Preheat the oven to 500 degrees.


Remove both ends of the eggplant and chop into 12 slices of identical thickness.


Warm the olive oil in an electric skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is softened. Add the ground lamb and cook, breaking it down with a wooden spoon to break up any lumps and give a nice consistency. Add the salt, pepper, cayenne and cinnamon. Continue stirring the mixture until the meat is nicely cooked.


Add the red wine, beef broth, tomato puree, and 1 cup tomatoes and stir. Bring to the boil and cover the pan with a lid. Simmer gently for around 10 minutes.


In the meantime, soften the butter in a pan and add the flour, stirring gently with a whisk. Add the milk, stirring briskly with the whisk until smooth. Season with freshly ground salt and pepper to taste. Mix in the left over diced tomatoes. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Add the egg yolk and remove the pan from the heat.


Scatter the eggplant slices with salt and pepper. Warm 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large electric skillet and add sufficient eggplant slices to cover the base of the skillet. Cook for about 45 seconds on each side, turn the eggplant slices and continue cooking for another 45 seconds. Take out the eggplant slices and drain excess oil. Cook the remaining eggplant slices in the same way adding a little more olive oil as necessary.


Place a third of the eggplant slices in a layer at the bottom of a large baking dish. Ladle a third of the ground lamb mixture on the eggplant slices. Carry on making the layers in the same way, finishing with a layer of ground lamb sauce. Ladle the tomato white sauce over the top.


Scatter the feta cheese over the top to finish and place the moussaka in the oven. Bake for 15 minutes.

Tip : For a crispy topping, place the dish under a hot grill to nicely brown the cheese.

Feta Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breast with Parma Ham

Combined with the tangy Dijon Mustard, these yummy Feta Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breasts wrapped in Parma Ham taste marvelous and will impress your guests. One of the finest feta cheese recipes.

Ingredients (serves 6) :

6 Chicken Breasts

12 slices of Parma Ham

6 ounces of Feta Cheese

18 Stalks of Asparagus

2 tablespoons of Butter

2 tablespoons Olive Oil

3 tablespoons Dijon Mustard

Freshly ground Salt and Pepper

Method :


Place cling film over the chicken breasts and bash them out with a meat tenderizer or rolling pin. Add salt and pepper and slice the fillets in half.


Crumble feta cheese onto the fillets and roll them tightly. Wrap each chicken breast with 2 slices of parma ham and secure with a cocktail stick.


Fry asparagus in butter until nicely cooked and tender.


Fry the chicken breasts in oil on each side until golden brown. Serve with the asparagus and Dijon mustard.

Blue cheese is a rich, strong cheese that comes in many varieties, among the most famous being Roquefort, stilton and gorgonzola. It gets its name from the blue veins running through the cheese that are formed by harmless mold that is added during the cheese making process.

Fillet Steak With Blue Cheese Recipe.

Beef fillet steaks taste magnificent with a spoonful of blue cheese and mustard-flavored butter.

Ingredients (serves 2) :

2 beef fillet steaks

1 teaspoon olive oil

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon coarse ground pepper

2 tablespoons grated blue cheese

1 tablespoon salted Butter

1 teaspoon chopped fresh chives

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Method :


Heat gas grill on medium-high, charcoal grill or electric griddle until coals are ash white. Rub steaks all over with oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.


Place steaks onto grill. Grill or griddle, turning once, 7-11 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 145°F. (medium-rare) or desired doneness.


Combine all remaining ingredients in bowl.


Spread the blue cheese butter mixture over the grilled steaks and enjoy.

Tip : The blue cheese butter will keep for a few days in the refrigerator, so you can prepare it in advance to save time.

Blue Cheese Straws With Rosemary.

Fragrant rosemary enriches the flavor of these delicious blue cheese straws.

Ingredients (Makes around 60 straws) :

1 cup all-purpose flour

6 tablespoons of butter

1 ½ cups of grated blue cheese

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon buttermilk or milk

2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh rosemary

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Heat your oven to 350ºF. Line a couple of baking sheets with parchment paper ready to bake your straws.


Mix all of the ingredients in a food processor fitted with metal blade. Process until mixture forms a soft dough. Cover the blue cheese dough in cling film and refrigerate for half an hour..


Roll out the blue cheese dough on a lightly floured surface and cut lengthwise into 1/2-inch wide strips. Place the strips onto the baking sheet you prepared earlier.


Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes or until the blue cheese straws are golden brown around edges. Allow them to cool before serving.

Blue Cheese Baked Potatoes

This mouthwatering blue cheese recipe elevates the humble baked potato to wonderful new heights! Stuffed with blue cheese and sour cream, these potatoes are the perfect accompaniment to a main meal or enjoyed on their own. This is one of our favourite blue cheese recipes!

Ingredients (serves 4) :

4 Large Potatoes

4 tablespoons cooking oil

2 tablespoons of salt

½ tablespoon of black pepper

1/2 cup of soured cream

80 grams of blue cheese

3 tablespoons of finely chopped chives

Method :


Preheat oven to 350ºf. Combine the salt and pepper in a small bowl.


Wash the potatoes and place them in a large bowl. Sprinkle with the oil and mix well to ensure even coverage.


Coat the potatoes in the salt and pepper mix. Place on a baking tray and cook for one hour or until soft.


Whip the sour cream and blue cheese until smooth. Season well.


Cut a cross into the top of each potato and lightly squeeze to open a space for your blue cheese mixture. Get rid of any surplus salt.


Fill the potatoes with a small spoonful of the blue cheese mixture, then scatter with the chives to serve.

Tip: You can shorten the preparation time by microwaving the potatoes for 5 minutes before placing in the oven.

Blue Cheese & Mushroom Burger

A delicious gourmet beef burger that the whole family will enjoy. Great for barbecues!

Ingredients :

1 tablespoon of butter or olive oil

1 lb ground or minced beef

1 pack mushrooms (sliced)

1 packet of burger buns

4 ounces of blue cheese

Divide the beef into 4 and make burger patties. Cook on the barbecue or griddle until cooked to your taste.


Fry the sliced mushrooms while the burgers are cooking.


When the burgers are cooked, top with the blue cheese and mushrooms and allow to melt.


Toast the burger rolls on grill for few minutes until lightly brown.


To serve, place the blue cheese and mushroom topped burgers on the buns and enjoy!

Ingredients (serves 4) :

4 small butternut squash

6 ounces of blue cheese

4 ounces of butter

1 handful of fresh sage leaves

Freshly ground salt and pepper
